In-person meetings to resume on 1st February

Good News - we will be resuming in person meetings on Tuesday 1st February.  The first meeting will be a Knit (or crochet) and Natter including a show and tell.  I'm sure we've got plenty to talk about, but we'll try and keep to topics relevant to yarn crafts and not digress to much!

There is a change of venue, so don't go to the school. We will be meeting at  Fleet Methodist Church, 72 Reading Road South, Fleet GU51 7TF.   The start time will be 8pm and we need to leave by 10pm.   We will be the only ones there and as the main door is out of sight of the room we are using I will lock the main door once we settle down into the meeting.  We will still be able to use emergency exits; it's just to stop people coming in and wandering about in places they shouldn't.  So if you arrive after the door is locked ring the door bell and we'll come and let you in. You may need to ring it more than once and we will check the door too.  We could get a visit from someone from the Church to check that we are ok, and they may join in the meeting, especially for the first couple of meetings whilst we get used to the new venue.

There is plenty of parking to the rear of the Church.  Go slow as there are speed humps and watch out for people walking back along the road. We will be using the front door.  There are external lights with motion sensors that should come on. Kitchens are not being used at the moment, so bring a drink if you want one.

The Church has asked that for the moment we wear masks (unless exempt) and sanitise our hands. We will be having windows open (and the heating on!) so whilst I hope it won't be absolutely freezing, you may need to wear warm clothing.  We have also had to complete a risk assessment and give the Church our guidelines for attending meetings to keeping everyone safe, etc. which are below.  Please take the time to read it, as it contains some important information.   It would also be appreciated if you would do a lateral flow test before you come to the meeting, even if you have had all your jabs.  Infection rates are falling, but are still higher than we'd like.

If for any reason the meeting doesn't go ahead I will post here an send an email to those on the messages list.  But I'm hoping that after two years we will be able to meet!

Guidelines for attending Fleet Knitting Club meetings

Whilst we recognise that national guidelines are relaxing, and that the majority of people have now been double, and some will be treble, vaccinated, we are aware that it is still possible to catch, and spread, Covid-19.   We therefore feel it sensible to put a few precautions in place for when we meet. Whilst these precautions go further than national guidelines we feel they are important bearing in mind the age and health of many of our members and hope that you will respect them.

It is up to each person to take personal responsibility for deciding whether they are happy to attend knitting club when we start meeting again. Fleet Knitting Club cannot be held responsible for any infection or virus you may be in contact with or catch whilst at a club meeting.

We would respectfully request that you do not attend a meeting if:

  • 1.      You are currently suffering from a cold or cough or recently recovered from one
  • 2.      You have a stomach upset (sickness or diarrhoea), or have had one or been in contact with someone who has one within the last 48 hour.
  • 3.   You have been in contact with, or pinged as a contact of, anyone isolating, suspected or confirmed as having Covid or any other contagious infection within the 10 days prior to the meeting.
  • 4.     You have had a positive result from any form of Covid test until receive a negative result.
  • 5.     You have returned from any overseas country within the last 10 days.

If you have symptoms of Covid, or receive a positive result from any form of Covid test within 6 days of attending a meeting (including the day of the meeting) please contact us immediately.  Everyone attending a meeting will be required to provide up to date contact information so that we can notify you as a potential contact.  We are required also to inform the Church.

For attendance at the meeting you will be expected to:

  • a)      Wear a mask (unless medically exempt from doing so) in which case we would ask that you wear a visor if possible.
  • b)   Sanitise your hands before entering the building and on leaving.  (Please bring your own sanitizer).
  • c)     Socially distance from other members attending, preferably by 2 metres but if not by at least 1 metre. Do not shake hands or hug.
  • d)      Refrain from handling items belonging to anyone other than yourself.
  • e)      Bring your own pen to sign in and to give a current contact number.
  • f)       Refrain from going into other areas of the building.  (A designated toilet may be used if essential).
  • g)      Follow any instructions given to us by the Church.

The tables and chairs must be sanitised before we leave. Windows and keep doors open whatever the weather.

Please remember that whilst you may be comfortable with being close to others in a enclosed/confined space and with poor ventilation, there will be some people who prefer to maintain distance from others and to have doors and windows open. We would ask you to respect all positions and views and be understanding if they ask you to move further away from them.

Thank you for your co-operation.
